Thiago walks arm in arm through hotel with £12m Liverpool player, could be his new best friend

Liverpool’s midfield maestro Thiago Alcantara looks to have found a new best friend in left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

As seen from a fan-posted video by @anikoash_on Twitter, the duo could be seen walking arm-in-arm through the Reds hotel in Singapore.

After some time away on tour, it seems as though Thiago and Tsimikas have enjoyed some bonding together. As the rest of the squad saunter on past, the two players link arms as a pair.

It’s yet more evidence of the closeness that exists in the Liverpool squad. Tsimikas, with his infectious personality, has been a big part of that since his arrival for £11.75m. Meanwhile, Thiago’s experience has quickly installed him as a key figure behind the scenes.

Thiago comes out the other side

Thiago could have been forgiven for looking for a quick way out of Liverpool in summer of 2021. Arriving amidst the Covid pandemic, pretty much nothing went to plan for him during that first season.

Injury restricted his minutes on the pitch, while the team floundered badly in-front of empty stadiums.

Away from the pitch, it must have been difficult to get settled into a new city where everything was closed. Normal life in Munich must have felt a long way away for Thiago and his family.

But credit to the 31-year-old, he has come out the other end with flying colours. Injuries again reared their head last season, but he played a huge part in Liverpool coming so close to a quadruple in 2021/22.

Adding the final piece of the puzzle

Further to that, Thiago now looks completely at ease with his role within the Liverpool squad. As one of the most decorated players in the team, he has taken on something of an elder statesman position.

He is quick to welcome new players, communicative on the pitch and looks happy with his family in the city.

The only piece left of the puzzle is to stay fit for a whole season. Thiago’s injury just before May’s Champions League final was potentially the defining moment of the whole night. The Spaniard wasn’t quite fully ready in Paris and it showed.

The former Barcelona man was voted into the PFA Team of the Year despite playing just 25 times. Had he been fit for the full season, it’s hard not to think Liverpool would have collected the extra two points they needed to claim the Premier League title.

Fingers crossed he can keep off the treatment table next season. When on form, he’s still one of the best midfielders in the world.
