'They'll go all in': Sky journalist suggests club will do everything they can to stop 'incredible' player joining Liverpool

Borussia Dortmund will do everything they can to stop Jude Bellingham from leaving the club to join Liverpool next summer.

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Uli Koehler. Speaking via Football Daily, Koehler claimed that Bellingham leaving Dortmund for the likes of Liverpool isn’t a foregone conclusion.

“They’ll (Dortmund) put everything in it to keep Jude Bellingham, he’s an incredible player,” said Koehler. “Whoever is joining now in Dortmund they say “what a player that Jude Bellingham, this guy is so young and so good.” He’s the future of the England national team but also Dortmund are hoping the future of Borussia Dortmund.

“They will battle, they’ll go all in. They’ll put all in to keep Jude Bellingham.”

It had been largely assumed that Dortmund would be willing to allow the 19-year-old to leave next summer. Perhaps the German giants won’t be quite so open to offers as initially thought.

Plenty of twists still to come in Bellingham saga

In reality, there seems to be little Dortmund could do to prevent Bellingham from leaving in a year’s time.

The only scenario where that would come to pass is if the player himself had no desire to move on. Of course, no one knows what Bellingham is thinking, and he does clearly have a huge amount of respect for the club.

But surely a move back to his homeland and to the Premier League is on the agenda for the next couple of years.

If he does wish to return to England, Liverpool have long since been reported to be at the front of the queue.

The Reds interest in the midfielder is, at this point, an open secret. Whereas Dortmund will go ‘all in’ to keep him in Germany, the suggestion is that Liverpool will do the same to get him out.

It would be a break from tradition should Dortmund attempt to block any move for their prized asset. They are of course an enormous club in their own right. But they have a very well-trodden path of letting young players go when the time is right. Often for massive fees.

Should they stand in Bellingham’s way, their reputation as a place for player’s to make their names before moving on would be tarred.

One thing’s for sure, there’s plenty of twists in this tale yet. It stands to reason that Borussia Dortmund would want to keep one of their very best players. But by hook or by crook, you’d imagine this is a battle they’re likely to lose.
