Andy Robertson has two-word message for 17-year-old Liverpool prospect as he joins training in Austria

Andy Robertson has welcomed Kaide Gordon to the Liverpool training camp in Austria, with a message posted on Instagram.

Gordon had earlier posted a picture of he and Robertson during a training session. And responding to the 17-year-old’s photo, Robertson wrote ‘Hello you,” coupled with some eye emojis on his Instagram stories.

Hopefully this little interaction is an indication that the Liverpool prospect has joined training after a previous injury.

Gordon has missed all of The Reds’ pre-season friendlies so far, but was named in the squad for the camp this week.

Gordon ready to make up for lost time

It must have been a difficult few weeks for Gordon as he saw his fellow academy prospects head out to Asia on tour with the first-team.

Had injury not gotten in the way, the teenager would certainly have been among the travelling party.

Big things are expected of him this season as he looks to build on a breakout campaign last time around. But that couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start. Gordon has been left playing catchup as the season steams into view.

Hopefully, those issues are now behind him. In his absence, fellow 17-year-old’s Stefan Bajcetic and Isaac Mabaya have impressed with the senior team. Both may be given game-time by Jurgen Klopp in 2022/23.

Neither are likely to garner more minutes than Gordon, though. He’s the current jewel in the crown of the under-age sides and, according to Diogo Jota, he’s heading for big things.

As things stand, he’s the most natural left-footed back-up to Mohamed Salah that Liverpool have. If he manages to stay fit, he’s very likely to see minutes in the domestic cups at the very least.

There’s no question that Gordon has immense talent. After a frustrating pre-season, hopefully he’s now ready to start contributing sooner rather than later.
