Liverpool can put Kaide Gordon in the spotlight this season after their reported transfer decision. The talented youngster gets his chance.
Reports claim Liverpool have made a decision to end their transfer business. The Times is one of those, who say that Calvin Ramsay will arrive from Aberdeen as the final addition this summer.
He will join Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez as additions, making the Liverpool squad look a little different to last year’s. It also means the Reds will be a little short in two areas going into the next campgin.
First and foremost, they only really have one defensive midfielder in Fabinho. In fact, their entire midfield looks a little light, especially if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain departs.
But Liverpool will also lack serious cover for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is the only out-and-out right-winger in the squad after Harvey Elliott moved into midfield. Despite boasting several top forwards, the Reds’ options virtually all play from the left.
And that’s actually very good news for one player, in particular. Kaide Gordon has his chance to step into the spotlight.
Kaide Gordon gets his opportunity
Gordon is an exceptional talent. He lit up Liverpool’s pre-season in 2021, with Trent Alexander-Arnold calling him a ‘frightening’ prospect on the back of it.
And he’s now in a very good position as he attempts to break into Liverpool’s first-team squad. Even if you count Elliott as a winger, Gordon is still right on the cusp of getting his chances.

Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz certainly can drift over to the right-hand side but the fact is, Liverpool don’t have a long-term option there. Gordon is the closest thing – which would have changed if the Reds moved to sign someone this term.
The youngster should now pray that Salah sticks around for another few years. If the Egyptian does remain at Anfield, Liverpool simply won’t invest in anyone to block Gordon’s path. It could be the making of him.
But first and foremost, we expect to see more of Gordon next season. There’s a chance there for him to become Liverpool’s backup right-winger and we wouldn’t bet against him taking it.
