Darwin Nunez has received plenty of deserved praised after firing in four goals for Liverpool last night.
“Animal,” wrote the Colombian in response to Nunez’s celebratory post.
Nothing more needs to be said. The Reds have got themselves an animal in-front of goal.
Nunez not messing around at Liverpool
Nunez’s four-goal haul last night came a little bit out of the blue. The 23-year-old had looked sharp in his two previous appearances, but didn’t really look like scoring.
All of a sudden, he couldn’t stop.
The Uruguayan should give a special thanks to Mohamed Salah, who gave him the green light to take a penalty just moments after coming on. Salah no doubt saw the confidence boost that Nunez needed and was happy to oblige. As well as Mo, all of Nunez’s teammates looked delighted for him.
It wasn’t the best penalty in the world, but all that mattered was that it went in. Had Nunez missed, you get the impression that he may not have had such a successful night.
Instead, he’ll head to the Austria training camp on top of the world. There has been such scrutiny on the big money signing so far, but last night should ease that pressure immediately.
As Diaz says, Nunez looks hungry for goals. Now that he’s off the mark for Liverpool, albeit unofficially, expect him to keep getting better and better.
The positions he takes up are different from what we’ve seen from Liverpool forwards of recent years. That’s what makes Nunez particularly exciting. Well, that and the goals!
As familiarity on the training pitch grows, we can’t wait to see how Darwin continues to evolve.
