Report shares what Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool really think of Darwin Nunez's slow start

A report has shared what Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool really think of Darwin Nunez after his slow start to life at Anfield. The Uruguayan is two friendlies into his Reds career.

This comes from the Athletic. They claim that Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool coaching staff are ‘more than happy’ with Darwin Nunez. This comes as the player received some strange criticism for his early performances.

Nunez hasn’t scored in his opening two appearances, after all, and didn’t look entirely comfortable. While the opening two friendlies are hardly an ideal way to judge someone, the striker’s fee brings incredible attention. Even, it should be said, from those not associated with Liverpool.

But Klopp and co. seem very happy. The report claims that they’ve ‘loved’ his movement and ability to find space. On top of that, they see an understanding forming with the full-backs – potentially a vital weapon for next season.

Liverpool, then, like what they see.

Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool start

This is all very promising, actually, as we imagine Nunez will start quite slowly with Liverpool. Not only does the player have a history of needing a bedding-in period but the Reds are notoriously difficult to adjust to.

The fact that Klopp already sees positives even without the goals is a fantastic thing, then. It suggests that Nunez is picking up what he’s coached to do, while the Reds are getting some of the traits they paid the money for. Now they just need to believe the rest is coming.

But of course, judging Nunez this early is absolutely ludicrous. He’s played two friendlies halfway across the world, one of which was merely a training exercise. You wouldn’t even take much from it if he’d bagged a hat-trick in each.

We’ll continue to focus on the positives, then. Nunez is a player who can deliver at the top level and we expect him to get there. Klopp certainly isn’t worried.
