Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson earned himself a handshake from Virgil Van Dijk with a long-range shot in training yesterday.
As seen in a video posted on the Liverpool FC official Twitter page, Robertson attempted the ‘crossbar challenge’ during the open session in Thailand.
After the £8m man’s successful attempt drew cheers from the watching crowd, Van Dijk offered his hand in congratulations. The watching Trent Alexander-Arnold also showed his appreciation with a swift handshake, too.
Ever the showman, Robbo!
Klopp ready to ring the changes
What a treat for the fans in Bangkok yesterday. There were thousands present in the stands at the Rajamangala stadium to watch their heroes in the flesh.
The Reds will return to the same venue today, as they face Manchester United at 2pm GMT.
While the fans were treated to the full array of Liverpool stars yesterday, they may not be afforded the same today. There will surely be a unfamiliar look to the line-up.
The Community Shield game against Manchester City is just over two weeks away, though. As a result, it is possible that Jurgen Klopp may field a slightly stronger team than he usually would at this stage of pre-season.
Many Premier League teams have already kicked off their warm-up games and Liverpool don’t want to be left behind.
Therein lies the benefit of having such a settled group, though. Unlike his counterpart of United today, Erik ten Hag, Klopp doesn’t have to get new ideas across to his team.
By and large, the team have been together for a number of years now. There a one or two new faces who have refreshed the dressing room, but they’ll be given time to bed in.
The hope will be that Liverpool can pretty much start where they left off last season. With the disappointment of Paris still fresh in their minds, hopefully they can channel that into a faultless start to the campaign – beginning today with a win over the old enemy.
Come on Liverpool!
