Darwin Nunez posts photo on Twitter before Liverpool's game against Manchester United today

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has posted a preview photo ahead of his potential debut for the club later today.

Nunez posted on Twitter to share his anticipation for the game against Manchester United, which kicks of at 2pm GMT on Tuesday.

The forward appeared to pick up a knock during Liverpool’s open training session in Bangkok on Monday. As a result, Liverpool were reportedly ‘sweating’ over the Uruguayan’s fitness (The Daily Mail).

However, hopefully Darwin’s post is an indication that he’s absolutely fine, and ready to play a part for his new club.

The wait’s almost over for Nunez

Nunez’s Liverpool debut has felt like a long-time coming. More often that not, new signings come through the door when pre-season is already well underway.

In Darwin’s case, he’s been a Liverpool player in name for almost a month now. No doubt he’s been chomping at the bit to show his new supporters, coaches and teammates what he can do.

If he is able to play a part, then what better game to make your debut in, too. A debut goal against United isn’t a guarantee of success at the club, just ask Xherdan Shaqiri, but it would be a heck of start.

When you take into account the fact that United were Liverpool’s main rival to sign Nunez, it would seem inevitable that he will score.

Let’s not get carried away, though. It is pre-season after all, and the chances are that he’ll have much less time to make an impact than in a meaningful game.

If he’s instead saving his goals against United for when it really matters, you won’t find us complaining too much.
