Trent Alexander-Arnold has said goodbye to former Liverpool teammate Ben Woodburn, who has joined Preston North End.
Woodburn officially left Liverpool after his contract expired on 30th June. Having now been picked up by Preston following a trial, the 22-year-old posted a message of thanks to Liverpool on Instagram.
“16 years at this amazing club! Thankyou for everything,” wrote Woodburn, alongside a picture of his record-breaking goal against Leeds United.
“My brother what a journey,” replied Alexander-Arnold.

Two very different Liverpool careers
It’s great to see Woodburn earning himself a contract at Preston after a brief trial period. The Welshman has bags of natural talent and can hopefully now kick on to a good career.
Unfortunately, it never quite happened for him as was hoped at Liverpool. That doesn’t have to be the end of his career at the top level, though.
If he can do well in the Championship, at twenty-two, he still has plenty of time to work his way back up.
As for Alexander-Arnold, his career at Liverpool couldn’t really have gone much better so far. The right-back actually signed his first professional contract on the same day as Woodburn, back in 2016.

Trent is a full year older than Woodburn, but made his debut only a month before his younger teammate.
Since then, Alexander-Arnold has gone on to make over 200 appearances for Liverpool. He has won six major trophies and has helped redefine the full-back role.
Woodburn, meanwhile, leaves having played 11 times for the senior team. His last game game over fours years before he eventually left the club.
Two closely-linked careers that have taken very different routes. All the best, Ben.
