Luis Diaz now sends four word tweet after his first ever day of pre-season training with Liverpool

Luis Diaz’s first pre-season with Liverpool is now underway, and the Colombian couldn’t be happier.

Judging by his post on Twitter following yesterday’s session, Diaz is delighted to be back after the summer break.

“Good to be back,” wrote the 25-year-old. Accompanying the simple message was a video of Diaz doing the rounds as he entered the gym at the AXA Training Centre.

Among those to greet Diaz was Joe Gomez. The centre-back gave his teammate a big hug as he lay back on the treatment table.

Diaz ready to let rip

One of the key reasons for excitement ahead of the new season is the chance for Diaz to settle in further. After joining mid-way through last season, he took no time at all to light up his new surroundings.

But there were still some teething issues. The native Spanish speaker doesn’t speak a whole lot of English, something Jurgen Klopp referred to on more than one occasion.

He also at times looked like he could do with a little more integration into the defensive duties of his role.

Both of those points will hopefully be ironed out to some degree over the coming months. With plenty of time now on the training pitch and in friendly games, Diaz should quickly become more accustomed to his position.

With Sadio Mane also gone, Diaz has a defined job for the team. The left-sided forward position is very much his now.

There won’t be such a need for rotation at the beginning of the season, too. As a result, Diaz should be able to get the minutes he needs to fully establish himself.

There will be a need for the Colombia international to weigh in with a few more goals than he has been doing. But the arrival of Darwin Nunez should also ensure that this isn’t an absolute necessity straight away.

All in all, the prospect of seeing Diaz play in red for a full season is an exciting one. His relentless energy and pace makes him a player you really look forward to watching.

The 2022/23 journey began yesterday, and thankfully, Diaz looks right up for it.
