Neco Williams’ Liverpool exit could be about to take another twist, as Nottingham Forest prepare to sign a new defender.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Forest are set to sign Troyes full-back Giulian Biancone. Just days after having a bid rejected by Liverpool for Williams, it seems they may have moved on.
All hope is not lost just yet, as Biancone looks to be able to play across the back-line. Most of his minutes last season did, however, come at right-back.
If Forest have indeed moved on from their pursuit of Williams, Liverpool could be set to lose a good chunk of money. The newly-promoted side have been claimed to be the only side still in the running for the Welshman, after Fulham dropped out.

Williams left in limbo for now
Liverpool seemingly aren’t looking to do any further incoming business in the transfer window. As a result, perhaps failing to sell Williams this summer isn’t the end of the world.
But after an excellent half-season with Fulham, the 21-year-old’s stock may never be higher. Should he stay at Anfield, he’s unlikely to get meaningful minutes next season. His value could plummet as a consequence of that.
Therefore, if Liverpool can’t sell Williams between now and the end of August, they simply must find him a loan deal.
Calvin Ramsay has been brought in as back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold and his progress shouldn’t be stunted.

Another good spell away from Anfield should see Liverpool retain their £15m asking price for Williams, too.
Who knows, if he can impress on-loan as well as at the World Cup with Wales, maybe they’ll be able to raise their selling price even higher.
For now though, it looks like Liverpool could be about to lose out on a £15m profit on their academy product. Time will tell whether Forest see Biancone as an alternative to Williams, or merely to supplement him.
