Liverpool are one of the four clubs targeting Marco Asensio, according to a report. The player is available to buy.
This comes from CalcioMercato. They believe that four clubs wish to sign Marco Asensio and Liverpool are one of them.
Newcastle United, Arsenal and AC Milan are the other three – and the latter believe they hold an advantage over Liverpool. That’s because Milan can give the Spaniard a bigger role in their squad, as well as a long-term future.
The Reds can’t quite match that, even if they’d like to add Asensio to their options. As he enters the final year of his contract, Real Madrid could find themselves selling. And it appears the player will have his pick.
Liverpool targeting Marco Asensio
We do believe Liverpool can justify signing Asensio, especially if they use him more as a midfielder than a forward. We have a feeling there will be more room for players like him as a central creative player from now on.
He’s a player of ‘great quality’, after all – at least, in the words of Carlo Ancelotti. Asensio is someone you’d like to have in your squad.
But we still don’t see it as likely. Reports indicate that Liverpool have finished their incoming business for the summer and they certainly don’t need Asensio. At the same time, reports continue to grow that there’s interest from the Reds.

AS made that claim, as did both Sport and Mundo Deportivo. The more reports, the more likely it seems – but it’s probably telling that none of these outlets are really in-the-know when it comes to Liverpool.
Real will surely sell, though. AS believe £34m would get him and we think that price might fall with their supposed interest in Paulo Dybala. If Liverpool want Asensio, he’s there to get.
Unless, of course, Milan truly do offer him that first-team role. It’s something Liverpool simply can’t guarantee and that might end any possible deal before it starts.
