Real Madrid have eyes on a Marco Asensio replacement, according to reports. This comes as Liverpool watch the Spaniard closely.
This comes from Tuttosport in Italy. They claim that Real Madrid will make a move for Paulo Dybala as a replacement for Marco Asensio.
Now, there’s still no guarantee that Asensio will leave Madrid but should a move come to fruition, Dybala would be Real’s option. The playmaker is out of contract after leaving Juventus and represents a free option – and an easy profit this summer for Los Blancos.
There is plenty of talk that Asensio could leave this summer, too. He’s entering the final year of his own contract and Real may cash in on the player. That’s where Liverpool may come in.
AS in Spain initially claimed that Liverpool want Asensio and let him know. Real’s £34m price tag is a steep one but the interest was backed up in both Sport and Mundo Deportivo.
Real Madrid target Marco Asensio replacement
This could be a really interesting development. We believe Liverpool can justify a move for Asensio if they’re moving towards a more attacking midfield next season. The only major hangup we have with it all is the asking price.

£34m for a player Real don’t consider a key player is an awful lot of money when he’s entering his final year. It suggests they value having him as an option very, very highly – rather than the player himself.
After all, that’s roughly what Liverpool sold Sadio Mané for and he certainly was a key player.
And so Dybala’s availability could tempt Real into lowering the price. Losing Asensio wouldn’t be so hard to take if they could get the Argentine as an immediate replacement. If losing him isn’t so hard to take, maybe that valuation falls.
We still think it’s relatively unlikely that Liverpool sign Asensio but this interest might make it a little more possible.
