Liverpool will try to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in next year’s summer transfer window.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Interviewed by Wett Freunde, the journalist claimed that he’s ‘sure’ that Liverpool will be in the race to sign the teenager next year.
“I think Jude Bellingham will stay at Borussia Dortmund this summer. I have no doubts about that,” began Romano. “Dortmund are convinced that the player will stay and he is ready to stay. I don’t see any problems between the two parties.
“But I’m sure Liverpool will enter the race for Jude Bellingham next summer.”

Good news, then? Well, not entirely, because the journalist goes on to suggest that ‘all the top clubs’ from England and Spain will also be keen on Bellingham.
“Let’s wait and see what Borussia Dortmund plans to do next summer,” he said. “But Liverpool will be in the race for him. And not just Liverpool. Because all the top clubs, not only from England, but also from Spain, are monitoring the situation around Jude Bellingham. I’m sure when the moment comes, Liverpool will be there.”
Big competition for Bellingham
That Liverpool will be in for Bellingham comes as no great surprise. The England international has long been mooted as the ideal midfield signing for Jurgen Klopp.

However, the presence of major competition could mean that Liverpool’s interest doesn’t get off the starting block.
As journalist David Lynch claimed in The National earlier this week, Liverpool won’t be forced into a high stakes bidding war over Bellingham’s wages.
If ‘richer’ clubs are interested and are willing to pay higher salaries, Liverpool are unlikely to match those offers.
Instead, The Reds will potentially go bigger on a transfer fee in an attempt to ward off other teams. Whether that’s enough to land Bellingham will then rest on the player’s decision.

Either way, it looks as though Liverpool will have a go at signing one of the best young talents in world football. He’s certainly worth fighting for, Paul Merson recently called him ‘very special’ on Sky Sports via Liverpool Echo.
If they can bring him in or not, that remains to be seen.
Real Madrid look like being the major competitor for the midfielder. But with him likely to be on the market, it’s reasonable to expect that Manchester’s City and United as well as Chelsea will throw their hats into the ring.
