Seven youngsters will leave Liverpool this summer in search of regular game-time away from Anfield.

That’s according to Goal, who claim that Liverpool will look to move on a number of players from the academy.

The seven players have a combined 30 appearances for Liverpool between them. The majority of that comes from centre-back Rhys Williams, who played 19 times for The Reds in the 2020/21 season.

As well as Williams, Billy Koumetio, Leighton Clarkson, Sepp van den Berg, Vitezslav Jaros, Owen Beck and Paul Glatzel will look to be moved on temporarily.

Mixed success for youngsters last time out

Of the seven players mentioned, only three were away from Liverpool for the full season last time out. Jaros and Glatzel both had relative success but will look to push on perhaps further up the ladder this time.

van den Berg, meanwhile, was a roaring success at Preston North End. After such a good 18 months at Deepdale, hopefully he might attract a team of even higher calibre.

For Williams and Clarkson, they’ll be hoping they manage to find a better fit than last season. Their loan spells at Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers respectively were cut short after limited appearances.

Williams in particular could do with getting games under his belt. It’s been reported previously that Liverpool do still see a long-term future for him at the club, with Jurgen Klopp even labelling his performances ‘incredible’ via Sky Sports.

For Beck and Koumetio, it will represent their first jaunt away from the club as professionals.

There’s high hopes for both of them, particularly Beck. As both are now nineteen though, they’ll be expected to show that they have the capability of performing week-in-week-out at a decent level.

It could still be that club’s aren’t found for all the players on this list. But there is plenty of quality there. Hopefully all parties can find a solution that keeps alive their dream of playing for Liverpool long-term.
