Jude Bellingham could be subject to an offer from Liverpool and a report on Jadon Sancho gives him food for thought. The Reds won’t find a better midfield option.
The Mirror wrote last week that Liverpool do see Jude Bellingham as an ideal signing. That goes along with a report from The Times that claims the Reds want a midfielder in 2023 and will wait for the right one.
But per the National, Liverpool see a potential problem with Bellingham. He’ll likely want huge wages in any move away from Borussia Dortmund and the Reds are unsure they can pay them.
That report also carries a cautionary tale for Bellingham, though. And it’s one that benefits Liverpool greatly.
Jude Bellingham could face Liverpool offer
Liverpool supposedly wanted Jadon Sancho last summer and FSG were willing to sanction a £75m offer. However, the club couldn’t match Manchester United’s wage offer and Sancho moved to Old Trafford instead.
It isn’t a move that hit the ground running. Sancho started only 20 out of 38 Premier League games as United struggled for form as a team. The young winger just couldn’t find any rhythm and finished the campaign with three goals and three assists – a long way from the eight and 11 he had the season before. Let alone the 17 and 16 the year before that.
Sancho, then, finds himself as a team that’s now rebuilding. He’s on his third manager in under a year and no one yet knows what his role looks like going forward. He must reforge his reputation as one of the game’s biggest young talents.
And that’s the warning for Bellingham here. He will get bigger wage offers than Liverpool – we know that – but that doesn’t mean he’ll get a better move out of it. He may even get one that moves him backwards.
Liverpool can offer the teenager a role as the future of their midfield and a place in one of the world’s best teams. It could be the move that makes his career – if he’s willing to sacrifice wages for it.
