Sadio Mané has the day of his medical with Bayern Munich set. With that, we know his final day as a Liverpool player.
Sky Germany say that Bayern Munich have a medical for Sadio Mané ready to go on Tuesday. This comes after they agreed to a £35m fee with Liverpool for their no.10.
Mané is out of contract in 2023, making this transfer very possible. In fact, Bayern reportedly saw several reasons this would happen – they felt the strongest party in negotiations.
And Mané’s desire to play for Bayern was one of those. He gets his wish and the Bavarians plan on unveiling him the day after his medical. They’ll potentially do it at the Allianz Arena, too, in a proper event. Clearly, Bayern see this as a major signing and one to truly celebrate.
Bayern set Sadio Mané medical
So after six incredible years, we can say that next Tuesday is likely Mané’s final day as a Liverpool player. That’s assuming that all medical checks go well, of course, and that the deal goes through flawlessly.
In all likelihood, though, we’ve only got a few more days of Mané. It’s one that hits hard – really, the biggest departure since Luis Suarez joined Barcelona in 2014. That’s the level of player Mané truly is and Liverpool will lose one of the world’s best forwards here.
The hope is that Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez can all develop as the current no.10 did and become world-class players themselves. We’ll certainly back them to do just that – the Reds have a wonderful track record under Jurgen Klopp in moving players up a level or two.
And that, at the end of the day, is why this is easier than when Suarez or Fernando Torres left the club. Liverpool simply didn’t have anyone to fill the void when they left but there are players on hand to step into Mané’s shoes.
Not that it will be anything like easy.
