Bayern Munich saw three reasons why Liverpool would always sell Sadio Mané for a bargain price, according to reports. A transfer is imminent.
This comes from Sky Sports. They say that Bayern Munich always felt confident that Liverpool would sell Sadio Mané in this transfer window.
They were right, too. The two parties agreed on a deal earlier today that will send the Senegal star to Bavaria. Bayern pay around £27m upfront with add-ons that could take the deal to £35m.
It’s a bargain price for one of the world’s best forwards. Mané has been sensational over his Liverpool career and we think some of his best performances yet came in 2022.
So why would the Reds sell on the cheap? Well, Bayern saw three reasons why it was always likely as they pursued this deal.
Liverpool to sell Sadio Mané
Firstly, Bayern had a verbal agreement on a contract with Mané. That on its own showed them that the player wanted to move and that Liverpool couldn’t or wouldn’t match what they were offering. With one year left on his contract, it made this a tough situation.
Liverpool could either sell now or lose Mané for free in 2023. There didn’t appear to be any other options.

Bayern also grew confident as Liverpool pushed to sign Darwin Nunez. Not only does the Uruguayan make it easier for the squad to lose Mané but his large fee increases the need for extra cash.
And on top of that, the German champions believe their ‘soft’ negotiations over Thiago in 2020 helped things along. This was a favour returned, almost.
All of that contributed to Bayern getting Mané for below Liverpool’s asking price, then. You’ve got to say it’s wonderful business from them – and we’ll wait and see on the Red side of things.
