Reported Liverpool target Arnaut Danjuma has asked Villarreal to accept offers that come in for him this summer.
That’s according to El Periodico Mediterraneo, who claim that Danjuma has asked to leave his club after failing to settle in Spain.
The 25-year-old has reportedly asked his agent to ‘find him a way out’ of Villarreal.
It’s claimed that this will only be possible if the Spanish club are ‘heavily compensated’ for the investment they made in the player last summer. Villarreal signed Danjuma from Bournemouth for £21.3m.
There’s reportedly a release clause within the Dutchman’s contract which is reportedly ‘close to’ £34m.
Danjuma’s come and get me plea
This comes after the Holland international claimed he was aware of interest from Liverpool last year.
The Reds are once again said to be looking at Danjuma as an alternative to the potentially departing Sadio Mane.
He scored 16 goals for Villarreal last season and shot to the attention of some of Europe’s bigger clubs for his displays in the Champions League.
Judging from some of his performances last season, £34m doesn’t sound like too much of a gamble. In fact, it’s more or less the same price that Liverpool paid for both Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Danjuma has Premier League experience to go with his top-level European pedigree. As The Reds hunt for a replacement for their number 10, there won’t be many players at that price with that kind of CV.
With the player seeking a way, out he doesn’t sound like he’d need much convincing to join Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has plenty of other options to consider too, but it feels as though this isn’t the last we’ve heard of this.
