Sadio Mané replacement: Six players Liverpool are reportedly considering right now

Liverpool’s Sadio Mané replacement will have an unenviable task on their hands. Here are five players they’re reportedly considering.

Sadio Mané looks completely set to leave Liverpool this summer. Sport Bild now report that he’s agreed terms with Bayern Munich – they just need to agree a fee with the Reds.

Now, that creates a problem for Liverpool, of course. They’ve got to find a way to replace one of their best players, right as he’s arguably putting in his best football for them.

So who are they targeting to do that? Let’s have a look at five players being linked with Liverpool right now.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mané replacement

Serge Gnabry

Here’s an interesting one. The Daily Mail report that Liverpool could move for Serge Gnbary – currently at Bayern, of course. Like Mané, his contract expires in 2023, so the Reds could strike a similar deal that’s set to take the Senegal star the other way.

Gnabry was bags of talent and the pace out wide that Liverpool love. Our only problem with this one is that Mané has played very central this season – could Gnabry cover that? We’re not so sure that a pure winger is what the squad needs right now.

Joao Pedro

Sticking with the Daily Mail’s report, they believe that Liverpool like the look of Watford’s Joao Pedro. This would be a move in a different direction, of course, with the Brazilian still only 20 years old.

SALAH OR BENZEMA?! Liverpool & Real Madrid Combined XI

Liverpool would be investing in their future and deciding that their current crop is good enough to deliver right now. Joao Pedro only scored three Premier League goals for Watford last season but the Hornets struggled throughout the campaign.

Liverpool must believe his potential is far beyond what he’s shown, then. He’s capable of playing a variety of roles across the forward line, too. He could well be a bargain.

Martin Terrier

The Mirror claim that Liverpool like Rennes forward, Martin Terrier. He scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season and can play both wide-left and centrally. On paper, then, he’d slot right into Mané’s role.

This would be a typical Liverpool transfer, really. Terrier lacks a great reputation but there’s a sense that it could grow at Anfield. We’ve seen them have incredible success with a signing like this – including with Mané himself.

Darwin Nunez

Footballtransfers.com – along with reports in Portugal – claim Liverpool like Darwin Nunez. Not that anyone should feel shock at that. The Uruguayan has been absolutely sensational for Benfica this season, scoring 32 goals across the Primeira Liga and Champions League.

This would be the biggest signing Liverpool could make. A 22-year-old who’s lighting up Europe and would likely cost a fortune. However, there will also be more competition for Nunez than any other player.

We’d love to see it happen but let’s not hold our breath.

Christian Pulisic

And back to the Daily Mail we go. They believe that Liverpool would love to sign Christian Pulisic but the club feels it’s an unlikely one.

But the upheaval at Chelsea adds an element of uncertainty – who knows what their summer plans are? Pulisic is a valuable asset that they’re not quite getting the best from, which could tempt them to cash-in.

The only issue from a Liverpool point of view is that we don’t see how he’d be value for money. Perhaps the club sees him as far better than he’s showing right now – and that Anfield is the place to finally fulfil his potential. He’s the LeBron James of soccer for a reason, after all.

Ousmane Dembélé

Sport claims that Liverpool recently put in a proposal for Ousmane Dembélé. The Frenchman is out of contract this summer, meaning the Reds could sign him for free. That’s certainly the ideal way to replace Mané.

Of course, a free transfer will likely come with massive wages and certain playing guarantees. That’s the only way you can convince a player to move to you with such intense competition.

And that’s certainly a risk with Dembélé. But he’s a player with world-class potential – and Liverpool might fancy trying to get it out of him.
