Liverpool have stopped their pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni for the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Marca, who claim that The Reds are now ‘out of the race’ to sign the Frenchman.
Liverpool have reportedly withdrawn their interest after it became clear that Tchouameni wants to join Real Madrid.
This hasn’t deterred PSG who do remain interested, but Madrid are said to be ‘accelerating towards’ the signing. As their rivals have ‘ran out of steam,’ Real’s interest has reportedly remained strong.
Monaco are reportedly looking for around £68m for the 22-year-old.
Time to turn to other targets
It’s a shame that Liverpool look to have lost out to Real for the signing of Tchouameni.

The Reds had looked to identify the France international as the best man for the job of refreshing their midfield. According to some reports, the player had even agreed terms with Liverpool.
If his heart is set on a move to Liverpool’s Champions League conquerors though, then so be it. Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool shouldn’t be a second-choice destination for any player.
There’ll be a list of other targets who will be more willing to commit to one of the best projects in world football.
Battling with the best
Regardless of the outcome of this particular race, it’s great to see Liverpool once again battling with top sides for top players.
For too long we had gotten used to these kind of players being far out of Liverpool’s reach. That’s no longer the case.
They may have lost the battles both on and off the pitch against Real Madrid recently, but Liverpool will surely come again.
With Klopp at the helm and a fantastic recruitment team working wonders in the market, Liverpool will have another trick up their sleeve.
