Harvey Elliott might be more excited than anyone about Fabio Carvalho joining Liverpool. The two came through at Fulham together.
Liverpool clearly liked signing Harvey Elliott enough that they thought to try it again. After all, the Reds went back to Fulham to sign Fabio Carvalho, who will join the Reds this summer.
It’s a very exciting transfer as Carvalho looked fantastic for Fulham in the Championship this season. He exploded into form as the Cottagers won the title in a dominant fashion.
Liverpool will now hope that his rise continues – just in Reds this time. But while everyone is excited about this one, none more so than Elliott.
He recently spoke to the Liverpool Echo and labelled Carvalho his ‘favourite player’ when coming through at Fulham. The teenager expects his former/new teammate to hit the ground running – much as he did.
“He was my favourite player to play with as a youngster to be honest at Fulham,” said Elliott. “Me and him had a great connection, on the pitch as well as off the pitch and I will definitely look after him when he arrives.
“But to be honest, I don’t even think I will have to do that, he will just fit in perfectly with the rest of the squad.
“He’s got everything in him, every attribute you can think of, and that’s why Liverpool have signed him. So I am very excited to see what he can bring to this team as well as all the fans and I am sure he will show them very quickly.
“So I am just very excited to see him again after three years or so and I am just very excited to share the pitch with him again.”
Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho
We agree with Elliott that Carvalho should have no problems fitting in at Anfield. In fact, we already see two potential positions for him.
And Liverpool will hope that their new Portuguese playmaker can have the kind of first-team impact that Elliott did last September. While an injury tore a chunk out of his season, we shouldn’t forget just how good Elliott was to kick off this campaign.
So expect Liverpool to take a lot of time over preseason to look at Carvalho, just as they did with Elliott a year ago. The two former Fulham teammates could well develop into something special over the next few years.
