'Let me assure you': Luis Diaz sends promise to Liverpool fans after Sunday's trophy parade

Luis Diaz has sent a promise to Liverpool fans that they can ‘keep dreaming’ together after Sunday’s trophy parade through the city.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, Diaz posted a heartfelt message to the Liverpool supporters.

“February 4th was the day you all welcomed me as just one more in the family,” he wrote. “Since that day I’ve been dreaming awake, living what I have deeply wished for all my life.

“And now that you’ve showed me that dreams come true let me assure you we will keep dreaming together. So with all there’s left to win, let it be, because in here I know: I will never walk alone.”

Klopp’s masterstroke

There can’t have been many of a Liverpool persuasion who were looking forward to Sunday’s trophy parade.

Having just lost the Champions League final, many teams would have possibly just called the whole thing off.

UEFA MUST STOP! NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE COULD RUIN FOOTBALL

Luckily for Liverpool, they have Jurgen Klopp in charge of making those kind of decisions. Klopp wanted to make sure supporters had the chance to thank his players for their efforts this season.

In a brilliant show of unity, that’s exactly what they did. Although the pain of defeat to Real Madrid still loomed large, players were given a reminder that they had already achieved so much during 2021/22.

It had the feeling of a moment we’ll look back on as being yet another Jurgen Klopp masterstroke.

Diaz settling in

For new members of the squad like Diaz, these are the kind of moments that can really cement a club into the heart.

Coming into new surroundings mid-season, perhaps he hasn’t been able to fully take in the club he has joined. Hopefully the scenes on Sunday help to hammer home exactly who he is playing for.

The Colombian is obviously an incredibly determined character. He wasn’t at his best on Saturday night. But the motivation the parade will have given him and his teammates to go out and win and win again shouldn’t be underestimated.

Next season those players will be desperate to return to these scenes, but this time carrying one of the big two trophies they missed out on.
