'I'm lost for words': Trent says Liverpool have a 'ridiculous' prospect who has 'no ceiling' on his potential

Trent Alexander-Arnold has claimed that there’s so much more to come from Ibrahima Konate at Liverpool.

Judging by his comments to LFCTV GO during the trophy parade yesterday, Trent was blown away by just how well his teammate played during the Champions League final.

“Outstanding, the performance he put in yesterday (during the Champions League final), I’m lost for words to be honest,” said Alexander-Arnold.

“I honestly can’t say anything, words wouldn’t do justice to the way I felt about the performance yesterday. I don’t know why, but I felt proud of him, it’s the Champions League final!”

Trent went on to say just how highly he rates Konate, and made a prediction for their future together at Liverpool.

“We’ve created a bond, we get along so well, he’s an amazing lad and an unbelievable player, the potential he has is ridiculous,” he said. “So I’m very proud of him, I think the sky is the limit, there’s no ceiling on his potential. Hopefully we’ll win a lot of trophy’s together me and him.”

No doubt about that, Trent.

Konate shows his quality

The big question for Jurgen Klopp before the Champions League final was who he would choose to partner Virgil Van Dijk.

Did he go with the experience and know-how of Joel Matip, or trust his younger option who has done so well.

In the end, it was Konate who got the nod, and he didn’t disappoint. Whilst others failed to show their true level, the 23-year-old rose to the occasion. He stood up and was counted in the battle to nullify the dangerous Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.

Unfortunately, Liverpool couldn’t contain Vinicius right until the end. That was through no fault of Konate’s though. A magnificent display on the very biggest of stages.

An international call-up for France can’t be far away now.

Liverpool’s right side sorted

It’s heartening to hear of the bond between Trent and Ibou. The two are both twenty-three and have years ahead of them at Liverpool.

With his performance yesterday, Konate has possibly edged ahead of Matip in the stakes for a starting spot next season.

That will mean the two young players will be linking up on the right of Liverpool’s defence much more often next year. A close personal bond will help as they try to build-up an on-pitch understanding.

It has been a brilliant first season at Liverpool for Konate. Although it ended without one of the biggest trophies on offer, with him in the side, we’ll surely go for them again next time out.
