Report: Bayern Munich now believe they can sign ‘world-class’ Sadio Mané for as little as £25m

Bayern Munich believe they could sign Sadio Mané for a staggeringly low price, according to reports. Liverpool surely won’t sell.

This comes from Bild. They claim that Bayern Munich see a chance to sign Sadio Mané for a very low price.

The Liverpool star is coming into the final year of his contract at Anfield. That puts the club in an awkward position – sell now for funds or lose him for free in 2023? While they’ll hope to agree on a new contract, there’s always the chance that Mané doesn’t accept.

And thus Bayern feel they can take advantage. They’re in the market for a Robert Lewandowski replacement, of course. That’s no easy task and Mané truly could be their best-possible option – we certainly saw this coming.

What’s truly staggering, though, is that Bayern think Mané’s price could fall as low as £25m. They apparently admit that it’ll take being open to £42m to get Liverpool to the table but they see negotiating down as an option.

Sadio Mané could leave for a very low price

We can’t imagine Liverpool would actually sell for £25m. We don’t see value in selling for £40m – £25m would be a travesty.

Mané’s form this season has been good enough that there’s more value in keeping him around for a year and losing him for free in 2023. That one year could easily lead to more trophies and the Reds’ no.10 would play a part worth more than any middling transfer fee.

So we can only hope that Bayern are seriously mistaken on this one. Mané is a vital player in the form of his life and Liverpool should hold onto him for anything short of a £50m fee. Jurgen Klopp was calling him ‘world-class’ earlier this month – he certainly sees the value in him.

£25m would truly be a bizarre, nonsensical piece of business and one the Reds are better than.
