Liverpool must brace for Bayern Munich to come after Sadio Mané after Thursday’s shock reports. The Reds will face a fight.
News is all over Germany today that Bayern Munich have suffered a shock setback. That’s because Roberto Lewandowski wants to leave the club this summer to join Barcelona.
The Pole is out of contract in 2023 and Bayern now face a big decision. Do they hold onto an unhappy player for one more year before losing him for nothing? Or do they cash-in now and get something for him? It will surely be the latter for Bayern if Lewandowski is truly set on leaving this summer.
Sky Germany, Bild and Sport 1 all carry the reports. This one seems very legitimate. And with that, Liverpool should probably brace themselves.
Bayern Munich could come for Sadio Mané
Radio Catalunya reported yesterday on Barcelona wanting Sadio Mané. That’s now very unlikely, of course, if they’re going to bring in Lewandowski.
However, the report claimed Barca wanted to wait until 2023. Bayern, on the other hand, want Mané this summer and are willing to make an offer to Liverpool.

Like Lewandowski, Mané’s contract is up next year, putting Liverpool in the same position as Bayern. They could make the same choice, too, selling now to receive a fee. Their ultimate goal will be to renew the contract, certainly, but Mané might see a chance to make a massive move here.
His performances in a central role this season have arguably been the best of his career. The Senegal star would be a very able replacement for Lewandowski in that position – in fact, we don’t see how Bayern could find anyone better.
Liverpool must brace for this one, then. Bayern apparently wanted Mané anyway but if Lewandowski is truly off, he’ll likely become their utmost priority this summer. And the player might just fancy it.
