Brazilian legend Ronaldinho wishes he could have played alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
In quotes from elcaptain.dostor, Ronaldinho has lavished praise on the Liverpool man, calling him a ‘great’ player.
“Mohamed Salah is a great player,” said the 42-year-old. “I love watching him and I wished to play with him. I advise him to continue to shine. Messi and Mohamed Salah are the best players in the world for me.”
High praise from one of the greatest to have ever played the game.
Salah still taking the plaudits
Despite Liverpool missing out on the Premier League title, it has been a good week so far for Salah.
He scored his 31st goal of the season on Sunday to ensure he shared the Golden Boot with Son Heung-Min. Following the final whistle at Anfield, he also picked up the Playmaker of the Season for his 13 Premier League assists.
Although Mo would surely have swapped them both for Liverpool to lift the trophy, it’s a nice personal consolation. It also comes on the back of the Egyptian winning the FWA Footballer of the Year.
That should see him head into this weekend’s Champions League final raring to go. A few Real Madrid players seem to have been riled up by Salah’s talk of revenge heading into the game.
Hopefully Mo can use those barbs as extra motivation to come out on top in Paris.
Ronaldinho loves The Reds
Funnily enough, it’s the second time this season that Ronaldinho has singled out a Liverpool player for praise.
Back in January, he made a point of congratulating Virgil Van Dijk for a particularly good performance away at Crystal Palace.
“You are fantastic, [you] play with elegance and command the defence like a maestro – congratulations!” the World Cup winner wrote to Liverpool’s number 4 on Instagram.
The former Barcelona magician obviously knows quality when he sees it. Given his history with Real Madrid’s biggest rivals, no doubt he’ll be rooting for The Reds in the Champions League final on Saturday.
