Virgil van Dijk headed Liverpool into an early lead against Crystal Palace on Sunday. It set the Reds on their way to a brilliant victory and afterwards, the Dutchman received praise on Instagram from Ronaldinho.
It was a routine victory for Liverpool. That said, they were finally on the right end of some favourable decisions from the match officials and VAR.
Van Dijk has been in tremendous form of late. He is clearly keen to make up for last time having missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury.

The 30-year-old has made 26 appearances for Liverpool during the 2021/22 campaign. His goal on Sunday was his second of the campaign and came at a useful time.
For the last few years, Van Dijk has been considered one of the world’s best defenders. He’s been a revelation for Liverpool, playing 156 times and helping the club win Premier League and Champions League titles.
The challenge of claiming another title this season does appear slim. Manchester City are still nine points clear and Liverpool will need them to slip up.
All the Reds can do is try to win as many games as possible between now and the end of the season. If they do that, it should give them confidence going into next season if nothing else.
What has Ronaldinho said to Liverpool star Van Dijk?
The Brazilian legend has been very complimentary about the Liverpool enforcer. He has sent him a message which translated, offers him some firm praise.
He’s essentially called him ‘fantastic’, with the full translation: “You are fantastic, [you] play with elegance and command the defence like a maestro – congratulations!”
Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson is a huge fan of Van Dijk. He previously called him ‘unbelievable’ as the Reds were on their way to the Premier League title during 2019/20.
Recently, it’s been Ronaldinho’s praise that has caught the eye, however.
