Sadio Mané dismissed a question on his Liverpool future this week. He did so as Mohamed Salah committed next season to the club.

Liverpool face a massive summer as several stars enter the final year of their respective contracts. First and foremost, they’ll need to decide what to do with their original front-three – Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino.

All three see their deals expires in 2023. That makes this summer the final time that Liverpool could sell for a transfer fee, otherwise they could lose them for free in a year. That feels like a potential disaster and one the Reds will surely try to avoid.

The best way to do that, of course, is to agree new contracts. We’re unlikely to see any movement on that front until after the season, though. That naturally generates speculation as clubs line up to sign Liverpool’s stars.

But what do the players want to do? Sky Sports asked Sadio Mané what his future with Liverpool looked like on Wednesday. However, the player didn’t want to talk about it.

“I will answer after the Champions League,” said Mané. “Whether I stay or go, I’m going to answer after the Champions League.”

It’s an interesting answer as Salah got a similar question on Wednesday. The Egyptian was ready to commit at least the 2022/23 season to Liverpool, though.

“I don’t focus on the contract at the moment,” he said, per the BBC. “I don’t want to be selfish.

“I am staying next season for sure.”

Sadio Mané and his Liverpool future

Now, Salah certainly hasn’t made a long-term commitment there – he could plan on leaving for free in 2023. Mané could very well know he’s staying and sign a contract immediately after the final.

We just don’t know.

What we do know, however, is that Bayern Munich appear to want Mané and reports in Germany won’t go away. Sky Germany is the latest, claiming that Bayern are confident that they could sign the Reds’ no.10.

But really, we don’t know what’s happening – no one does. Mané’s future has flown under the radar this season with almost all the focus falling on Salah. Both face some of the biggest decisions of their career once the campaign is done, though.

All we can seemingly say for sure is that Salah will be here in a year’s time. Mané, however, fell short of making that commitment – and we can’t help but worry.
