Scouts at Liverpool really like the look of Fluminense’s André, according to reports. The Reds could look to sign the player.
This comes from NetFlu in Brazil. They claim that Fluminense midfielder André is really impressing scouts at Liverpool. The Reds are now analysing the player ahead of the summer – and could move for him.
The outlet stresses that the interest hasn’t gone further than that. The scouts like the look of André but Liverpool have a lot to consider before turning that into something more.
Still, this is one for fans to watch. Liverpool have a relationship with Fluminense, as the article points out, after signing Marcelo Pitaluga from there in recent years. That would seemingly open the door here.
Liverpool scouts like André
Liverpool will need to invest in their midfield over the next few years. James Milner is out of contract this summer, with both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita facing exits in 2023. We do expect Keita will get a new deal but the other two may not. Certainly, Milner isn’t a long-term option.
Then there are Jordan Henderson and Thiago. Both moved into their 30s last season and again, aren’t long-term investments.
Liverpool do boast two very exciting young midfielders in Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott but they’re each attacking options. In fact, both started as wingers before transitioning to midfield roles.
André, then, could be the defensive future of Liverpool’s midfield. He wouldn’t be too expensive – leaving the door open for a bigger move in 2023 – while adding something the Reds don’t currently have but do need.
So to us, this one makes a lot of sense. We’ll have our eyes on the situation and don’t be surprised if Liverpool sign André or, at the very least, a player of a similar profile this summer.
