Jurgen Klopp is set to re-appoint former Liverpool physio Christopher Rohrbeck in an attempt to ensure Mohamed Salah’s fitness for the Champions League final.
That’s according to The Athletic, who report that Rohrbeck’s appointment as a new staff member at Liverpool is imminent.
Rohrbeck was previously appointed in 2017 from Klopp’s former club Mainz. He was reportedly ‘extremely popular’ with the players and his return had been desired for a ‘considerable period.’
It’s claimed that the need to bring back the German was treated with greater urgency following Fabinho’s injury at Villa Park last Tuesday.

News of Rohrbeck’s re-appointment is said to have ‘gone down well’ with the Liverpool players.
Liverpool doing all they can
Liverpool have, by and large, managed well with injuries this season. After the shambles of 2020/21, Klopp has had most of his squad available for most of the season.
There have been those, like Roberto Firmino, who have had a few too many spells out. But it has been nothing like last season’s decimation of the squad.

It is therefore typical that a mini injury crisis should envelope The Reds just as they head for the finish line of an incredible campaign.
Klopp will desperate for his key men to be back for the biggest game in club football in a fortnight’s time. The manager has already publicly declared his faith that Fabinho will be fit for Paris.
Both Virgil Van Dijk and Salah have been equally as positive in their own assessments.

Privately though, there must be a worry for Klopp. You don’t pull the trigger on a new staff member at this stage of the season for nothing.
Hopefully Rohrbeck’s expertise and his knowledge of the players will have the desired positive impact. Heading into a Champions League final without the spine of Van Dijk, Fabinho and Salah would be an enormous blow.
