Mohamed Salah gave an emphatic two-word response on whether he’ll be fit for the UEFA Champions League final in two weeks. The Egyptian went off injured at Wembley.
Liverpool lifted the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday – their second trophy of the season. This is the Reds’ first FA Cup since 2006 in their first final for a decade. There’s reason to celebrate, then.
But there’s also a reason for concern. Liverpool suffered an injury ahead of the final, of course, with Fabinho pulling his hamstring against Aston Villa. They then suffered two more in the final against Chelsea, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk both leaving the pitch prematurely.
Fortunately, the Reds had enough about them to win a penalty shoot-out against the Blues and lift the trophy. The worry, though, is that there are two more trophies to fight for.
Liverpool have the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid in two weeks and there are now doubts about three key players. Salah, though, emphatically believes he’ll play.
“Of course,” he said, per the Telegraph, when asked if he’d be fit for the final in Paris. No worries there then.
Mohamed Salah certain he’ll be fit for Champions League final
Liverpool might actually get a bit lucky here. Obviously, true luck would be avoiding all injuries in the first place but it does sound as though all three stars will make the Champions League final.
7 Footballers Who Were GENUINELY Irreplaceable
Salah, certainly, is confident. Jurgen Klopp sounded confident on both his and Van Dijk’s injuries, too, when talking after the FA Cup final.
“Obviously I spoke to both already after the game, both are really OK,” he said, per Liverpoolfc.com. “All that we know is it’s not a big thing, we really came through.”
Klopp was also incredibly confident on Fabinho’s fitness during the week, too.
“He will definitely be back for the final, for the Champions League final,” he said, per Liverpool’s YouTube channel.
Real Madrid aren’t getting off easy, it seems.
