Liverpool could sign Eddie Nketiah, according to reports. The forward is expected to leave Arsenal this summer.
This comes from 90min. They claim that Liverpool are watching the situation at Arsenal closely and could move to sign Eddie Nketiah.
The forward’s contract expires this summer and it now appears he won’t sign a new one. He’s ‘exploring’ all of his options – and it appears he has plenty of them.
West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace are ‘firmly’ interested in signing him, apparently. Both Liverpool and Chelsea have eyes on Nketiah, too, and could get involved.
Nketiah is a player Arsenal won’t want to lose. The 22-year-old has had some seriously impressive moments this season, with Mikel Arteta openly talking his talent up.
“When he’s on the bench, when he’s sitting at home or when he’s on the pitch, this boy doesn’t change,” he said, per Eurosport. “That’s why we absolutely adore him and he deserves what is happening to him.”

One part of this story doesn’t really make any sense. Nketiah wants to leave Arsenal because of a desire to play regular first-team football. He certainly wouldn’t get that at Liverpool.
His role would be what Divock Origi’s is now, with the Belgian likely leaving on his own free transfer next month. He’s leaving for first-team football, though – so it’s not exactly a role Nketiah would want.
The only way we see Liverpool signing Nketiah, then, is if one or two more forwards depart the club. That’s not entirely out of the question as all three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino have one more year left. But if players of that quality left, we think the Reds would sign a far bigger and more proven name than Nketiah.
So while we can certainly believe that Liverpool have eyes on this one, it’s just not the right move for anyone involved.
