Kostas Tsimikas has called teammate James Milner an ‘old man’ after Liverpool reached the Champions League final last night.
Posting on his Instagram page after the match, Tsimikas shared an image of himself and Milner after the final whistle.
“Come on old man, hold my hand! Final bound,” wrote Kostas, complete with an old man emoji.
Knowing Milner, he’ll take the dig in the spirit it was intended in. Good to see the Liverpool lads enjoying a joke together.
Tsimikas wanted by Juventus
Neither Tsimikas nor Milner are likely to start the final in Paris, but it’s great to see their enthusiasm as members of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Tsimikas in particular seems to have been a positive influence on his teammates throughout the season.
The Greek left-back always seems up for playing a prank on other members of the squad. Despite his limited playing time, he’s also really taken the club to his heart and looks to be happy with his role.
Amid reports of interest in his services from Juventus, hopefully Klopp can convince him that his long-term future is at Anfield.
Milner’s Merseyside swansong in Paris
Milner too has been linked with a move away from The Reds. With his contract expiring at the end of the current season, it remains in the balance whether or not he will sign an extension.
The 36-year-old is still plenty involved in Liverpool’s first-team. Klopp turned to him again to see the game out in Villarreal last night. Milner helping to put the finishing touches to a topsy-turvy 3-2 win in Spain.
Paris will represent his third Champions League final with Liverpool. Having played a part in the other two, the smart money would say that he’ll be on the pitch at some stage on May 28th as well.
As things stand, that would be his last game for Liverpool. Although in some ways it feels like the right time to part ways with Milner, his experience will be welcome if he chooses to stay on.
