Liverpool have made contact with Aurelien Tchouameni’s agents ahead of a potential summer move to Anfield.
That’s according to Footmercato who claim that Liverpool have now ‘gone on the attack’ to sign the 22-year-old.
The Reds have reportedly made a financial offer to Tchouameni which trumps that of Real Madrid. It’s claimed that Liverpool now ‘believe in their chances’ of signing the player.
However, Real Madrid reportedly ‘really want’ to sign him, and will continue to rival Liverpool, as will PSG. According to Foot Mercato, the transfer fee will be ‘well above’ £42m.
Tchouameni on the move
Tchouameni looks set to be one of the biggest transfers of the summer window. After impressing this season for Monaco, he has already broken into a stacked France squad.
As a result of his impressive appearances for Les Bleus so far, he was labelled ‘extraordinary’ by Paul Pogba via Madein Foot.
Liverpool could be looking to strengthen their midfield this summer and to many, the young Frenchman would be the best possible option for that.
Monaco won’t sell him on the cheap, though. Corroborating Foot Mercato’s valuation of Tchouameni, Fabrizio Romano previously claimed on his YouTube channel that the midfielder would cost ‘over £40m.’
Liverpool won’t be deterred
In terms of price-tag, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Liverpool. If they have identified the Frenchman as being their ideal signing, somewhere in the region of £50m wouldn’t deter them.
Should the price start edging more towards £60m, that’s where Liverpool might be spooked.
With the summer window almost upon us, Tchouameni is likely to be a player we’re hearing much more about.
With James Milner looking likely to move on, and Jordan Henderson another year older, it would be wise for Liverpool to invest in a bright young midfield talent. If reports are to be believed, that could well be Tchouameni.
