Borussia Dortmund have a new plan for Jude Bellingham as Liverpool wait in the wings. The teenager is one of the world’s top prospects.
This comes from Sport Bild. They claim that Borussia Dortmund wish to build around Jude Bellingham next season. It’s a huge decision from the club on a player who is still only 18.
They see Bellingham as their ‘boss’ on the pitch, though, and the next true star at the club. In fact, they believe the Englishman will fetch over £85m when they eventually sell him.
Two clubs are waiting for that, too. Liverpool and Real Madrid both want Bellingham and Dortmund clearly feel each would pay the kind of money they’re after.
But only once they’re finished with him. After all, Bellingham’s value should only increase over the next year or two – Dortmund might as well hand on and get another quality season out of him, too.
Liverpool want Jude Bellingham
Dortmund deciding to build around Bellingham is quite ridiculous when you think about it. An 18-year-old as the star man at one of the world’s biggest clubs.
At the same time, it’s entirely understandable. Bellingham is a sensation and a player who can seemingly do everything. He should, in theory, be remarkably easy to build around.
This story also lines up with a previous report from Sport Bild that Dortmund won’t sell Bellingham until 2023 at the earliest. It’s a stance that makes sense, given Erling Haaland almost certainly leaves this summer. There’s no need to sell both right now.
And for what it’s worth, we think that’s ideal for Liverpool. The Reds don’t need to reshape their midfield this summer but almost certainly will do in 2023. Waiting a year makes Bellingham an absolutely perfect signing.
So as things stand, this looks setup for Liverpool to make a move. Just don’t expect it this summer.
