Reported Liverpool target with 'no weaknesses' scores twice to put his side in semi-finals, now has 30 goals

Christopher Nkunku, a player Liverpool reportedly want, scored twice last night in a massive Europa League game for RB Leipzig.

Christopher Nkunku is having a sensational season, no matter how you spin it. The Frenchman can do it all and is doing just that as RB Leipzig chase a trophy in 2022.

They’ve not got two fantastic chances to do just that as they have a DFB-Pokal semi-final coming up against Union Berlin. Now they’ll play a Europa League semi-final, too, having just eliminated Atalanta in Bergamo.

And they’ve got Nkunku to thank for that. He scored twice last night to fire his side through, having drawn 1-1 in East Germany. The player bagged his first in the first half, finishing off a fine counter-attack. Nkunku then won a late penalty that he converted himself.

Those goals don’t just put Leipzig through but also put Nkunku on 30 goals for the season. It’s a stunning total for a player who isn’t a traditional striker. It’s even more stunning when you consider the 22-year-old has 13 assists, too.

It’s an absolute explosion from Nkunku – he had seven goals last season.

Liverpool want Christopher Nkunku

ESPN believe Liverpool are one of many clubs with eyes on Nkunku. And let’s be honest, it would be shocking if they didn’t at this stage. Everyone in Europe should want the player.

We’ve talked before about how good a signing he’d be – Nkunku could fill the coming Roberto Firmino void. He’s a player, after all, who former boss Jesse Marsch sees “no weaknesses” in. There aren’t many of those around, let alone who also score 30 goals in a season.

There’s really nothing to dislike about Nkunku right now – he’s scoring regularly, creating chances, can play in any style and delivers in big games. Liverpool would be fools to ignore him this summer.
