Liverpool will surely rival any transfer move from Manchester United for Christopher Nkunku. The RB Leipzig man is reportedly on their shortlist.
The Mirror claims that Ralph Rangnick sees Christopher Nkunku as an ideal signing in January. He’s on the interim Manchester United boss’s shortlist and that shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Nkunku is having a sensational season with RB Leipzig. The Frenchman has played as a striker, an attacking midfielder, a left-winger and a right-winger, thriving in all.
In total, Nkunku has 13 goals and five assists across those positions. They complement a fantastic all-around game that sees the 24-year-old pressing hard, winning the ball back and creating opportunities.
He provides over four shot-creating-actions per 90, says FBref, on top of eight presses in the final third. They’re stats every top side should love.
And that’s why Liverpool, surely, will rival United for any transfer here.
Liverpool should join Nkunku transfer chase
Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool want a winger in the transfer window and that makes complete sense. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will disappear to the AFCON, after all, leaving a void in the squad.
But there’s a difficult part of this to navigate. Salah and Mane will return, meaning that gap isn’t there for long. Signing an out-and-out winger could be a bit of an issue, then.

In Nkunku, though, Liverpool could find someone who can play as a winger but shift to other positions when the African duo returns. To us, that seems ideal and eliminates a lot of the risk with any transfer.
Nkunku can be a long-term option across the forward line and should peak at the same time as Diogo Jota. Given they’re relatively similar players – and each impossibly versatile – it’s a duo that could replace Salah and Mane one day.
It doesn’t surprise us at all that United want Nkunku but it would surprise us if Liverpool don’t. He’s a brilliant player who consistently looks perfect for the Reds.
If the money is there in January, they should at least rival United.
