Liverpool are surely far more likely to target Jarrod Bowen in the transfer window after his moment of magic against Tottenham Hotspur. The 25-year-old looks like a star.
The Athletic claimed during the summer that Liverpool saw Jarrod Bowen as a transfer target. That rose a few eyebrows, given the West Ham man doesn’t have the biggest profile around. Fan perhaps wanted a bigger signing – a star like Thiago, for instance.
But it’s clear that Liverpool rate him highly. Jurgen Klopp outright said it ahead of the Reds’ fixture with West Ham back in October, in fact. And Bowen was fantastic in that game, too, which will only have raised eyebrows at Anfield.
His performance against Tottenham Hotspur last night will only have raised them higher, too. Bowen is showing another string to his bow – and it’s one Liverpool will love.
Jarrod Bowen – Liverpool transfer target?
Michail Antonio is out for West Ham at the moment, meaning Bowen played as a centre-forward against Spurs. He did wonderfully, too, as he scored his team’s goal.
And what a goal it was. Bowen collected a poor shot from Nikola Vlasic, turned on Eric Dier beautifully before sending him one way with a drop of the shoulder and firing home from the other. Brilliant composure, technique and invention.
This should excite Liverpool, then. Bowen is playing as a right-winger this season – and doing to magnificently – but being able to play as a centre-forward or False 9 would only make him more valuable to the Reds.
No one should believe that he’d arrive as a first-choice player but as a magnificent squad option? Liverpool might not find anyone better. Bowen has a complete skillset, can cover at least two positions and is young enough (25) to kick on another level.
We’re not sure how much West Ham would want in 2022 but Liverpool will surely consider it.
