Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with Liverpool youngster Owen Beck’s crossing ability during first-team training.
The Athletic report that having been invited to training, the 19-year-old left-back ‘provided seven or eight excellent crosses’ for Mohamed Salah.
It’s claimed that Beck was ‘not one of the stars of the academy’. But his performance in the session paved the way for more opportunities

Klopp reportedly ‘liked what he saw’ from the Welshman. Beck ‘did exactly what he (Klopp) wanted’ whilst making the step up to the first-team.
Beck making a name for himself
Although it isn’t stated exactly when the session in question was, it was presumably before Beck made his Liverpool debut against Preston North End in October.
Since then, the young left-back has made one further appearance for Liverpool. That was a dramatic one – he was on the pitch as Takumi Minamino scored a late Carabao Cup equaliser against Leicester.
Although his game time totals just 11 minutes, it just goes to show that Klopp will reward young players if their application is good in training.

It’s interesting to note that Beck wasn’t considered to be one of Liverpool’s top academy prospects.
More ‘exciting’ names like James Balagizi and Mateusz Musialowski are still waiting to put themselves in Klopp’s thoughts.
Meanwhile, players like Tyler Morton, Conor Bradley and Beck himself have been able to accumulate valuable time in first-team squads.

Beck is no stranger to the football world. He must get pretty sick of hearing it, but his great uncle is the one and only Ian Rush.
There’s no chance of him living up to the legacy of his famous family member for The Reds. But if these reports are anything to go off, that certainly won’t be for the want of trying.
