Manager says Liverpool have a ‘fantastic’ attacking talent on their books, isn’t sure if his club can sign him

Fulham boss Marco Silva believes Neco Williams is ‘fantastic’ but remains unsure if he can sign him permanently from Liverpool.

Liverpool finally gave Neco Williams what he needed in January – first-team football. Though, not at Anfield. They sent him off to Fulham, where he’s played a wonderful role for the Championship leaders.

Williams has established himself well at that level. He’s picked up two goals from right-back – one of which was sensational – and another two assists. He’ll almost certainly secure promotion, too, and likely a title medal.

Manager Marco Silva certainly likes what he sees – but remains unsure if a permanent deal is on the table come the end of the season.

“He is improving each game, even in the last game against QPR where he didn’t start the game like we would have wanted him to because of the way they approached the game, he was much better second half,” he said, per West London Sport.

“His intensity and the way he supported our offensive game has been fantastic and he is a young lad who always gives his best.

“I am pleased with the way he has adapted at our football club, but talking about his future is too early for us.”

Neco Williams and Liverpool

We’re big fans of Williams and he’s almost certainly going to carve out a great Premier League career for himself. It’s just unlikely he manages that at Liverpool.

As Silva says, the Welshman is brilliant going forward from right-back and really impressed at times for Liverpool this season. The problem, unfortunately for Williams, is that Trent Alexander-Arnold is in his way.

The world’s best right-back is still only 23 and unlikely to go anywhere for a long time to come. Space just won’t open up for Williams anytime soon and so we expect him to move on.

Fulham appear to be a wonderful club for him, too – perhaps a deal happens this summer, despite Silva’s uncertainty.
