Thiago Alcantara says that he has told friends that he has never had a month as exciting as the one that Liverpool have lined up.
During an interview with liverpoolfc.com, Thiago said that he couldn’t remember a time like it during his career.
“The other day I was talking with some friends about it,” said Thiago. “And I never had, in the years that I have been involved in football, I never had a month so exciting like this with such important and exciting matches every three days. So it will be amazing.”
The 30-year-old insisted that Liverpool must treat every game as if it were a final.
“It looks like a World Cup, a European Cup, where every game is a final. With that we are in a one-mission mood and we are there.”
Fighting talk ahead of a month that will define Liverpool’s season. If The Reds can see-out April and still be in with a shot at the quadruple, then we’re in for the most exciting end to the season we’ve seen in a long time.
A born winner
For many in the Liverpool squad, competing for trophies at this stage of the season is still a relatively novel concept.
Most have joined The Reds from teams lower down the footballing food chain and they hadn’t won anything before joining the club.
The one major exception to that is Thiago. As you’d expect from a player who’s previous two clubs are Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the Spaniard is incredibly decorated as a footballer.
Before joining Liverpool, Thiago had won the league title in 11 of the previous 12 seasons. Since making his debut for Barcelona in the 2008/09 season, he had only once not been crowned champion of the division he was playing in.
He also boasts two Champions League winners medals and five domestic cups.
It may be just coincidence that Liverpool are still in the hunt for everything now that Thiago is fully up to speed in a Liverpool shirt.
But with so much on the line, you can’t deny the value in having someone with that kind of experience around the squad.
