Thiago Alcantara has claimed that reaching 50 games for Liverpool is just the start for him at the club.
The 30-year-old took to Instagram after Liverpool thrashed Leeds United 6-0 last night. There he wrote on his story that arriving at the milestone represents “Just the beginning”.

It is a frustration that it’s taken Thiago 18 months to reach half a century of games for Liverpool. But it’s great that he doesn’t seem to have plans on leaving any time soon.
Liverpool’s lucky charm
As Liverpool blew Leeds United away last night, it elongated an excellent run of form for Thiago.
The 6-0 win meant that The Reds have still won every single game that the Spaniard has started for them this season.
It is only 12 games, and Thiago hasn’t tended to be available for Liverpool’s biggest matches this campaign. But it’s still an interesting statistic.
Another nice little fact is that since their time at the club together, Liverpool are yet to lose a game when Thiago and Fabinho start together in the midfield.

Unfortunately that only amounts to 18 games since the start of last season.
But the pair look fit and ready to take Liverpool into the last stretch of 2021/22.
Assuming the two players start, a continuation of that run on Sunday will see Jurgen Klopp’s team lifting the Carabao Cup.
Looking to the future
Liverpool are said to be in the market for a midfielder this summer. That could put Thiago’s future on Merseyside in doubt.
As shown, he has excellent record for the club and he truly is a delight to watch. But he simply hasn’t been fit for enough time since his surprise move from Bayern Munich in 2020.
Whenever he has looked like building up a head of steam, he has got injured and missed months at a time.

Whether he can stay fit for the rest of the season now will go a long way to securing his future at Liverpool.
At his best he’s one of the best midfielders on the planet. It’s now time for him to show that on a consistent basis for The Reds.
If he can, there’s every chance that Sunday’s Wembley showpiece won’t be Liverpool’s last final of the season.
