‘What a player’: Lineker is simply in awe of midfielder Liverpool reportedly want to sign

Gary Lineker once again hailed Jude Bellingham – a player Liverpool reportedly want. The midfielder shone for England.

Gary Lineker took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to wax lyrical about Jude Bellingham. The teenager started for England against the Ivory Coast and seriously caught the eye.

“What a player [Jude Bellingham] going to be,” wrote Lineker. “Correction: what a player he already is.”

The England legend then suggested that Bellingham was capable of starting for his country at the World Cup. That’s a big call, considering he’s still such a young player.

But there is a sense that Bellingham really is the future of England. Goal recently named him the best young player on the planet – and few can argue with that.

Liverpool certainly seem to agree, if recent reports are correct.

Liverpool want Jude Bellingham

SportBild claim that Liverpool want Bellingham and could push for a deal in 2023. Now, they’re not the only ones – Real Madrid are also looking at the same deal.

We hope that Liverpool do get involved here, even if Bellingham costs an absolute fortune. In fact, there’s little doubt that he will cost a record amount for the Reds.

But we’ve talked before about the potential here for Liverpool’s first £100m transfer. Because Lineker is right – Bellingham is already a star player and he’s almost certainly going to improve.

He’s not a player who relies heavily on pace and could peak early. This is a young player who shows remarkable maturity and an all-around game that even elite experienced players struggle to match.

£100m could be an investment into a long-term hallmark of your side. A player you can shape the team around for a long time to come – let alone one who also ticks the homegrown box.
