Liverpool are looking at a transfer for Brazilian winger Antony, according to reports. The player could leave Ajax for a good price.
This comes from Brazilian outlet UOL. They claim Liverpool are one of several clubs eyeing a potential transfer for Ajax winger Antony.
And there are several. Antony finds himself on the shortlist for Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as well as ‘three Premier League clubs’. Though, the only English side named is Liverpool.
We also get a potential price for any transfer as Ajax would apparently accept around £33m. For a player with as much talent as Antony, these teams will potentially view this as a bargain.
There’s another interesting quirk to this, too. Antony shares an agent with Raphinha (Former Portugal playmaker, Deco) – a player also linked quite heavily with Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern.
Liverpool consider Antony
One gets Antony, one gets Raphinha, the other sulks? That seems a little too straightforward but it might end up being the reality here.
We’ve talked about Raphinha before and he’s certainly someone who would improve Liverpool’s squad. The only question is whether we’re at a point of diminishing returns. He’d cost a fortune – Leeds United won’t sell cheap – but the Reds already boast so many wingers.

If they are going to add someone, presumably to replace Divock Origi, then paying half the money for Antony seems more appealing. Not only that, but he’s 22. There’s time to develop there and once he hits his peak, there should be room for a starring role.
So this one does make a lot of sense to us. Antony is capable of delivering special moments and we can only imagine the level he’d hit under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance. For £33m, he really could become another bargain in the forward line.
