‘He’s not here’: Sky journalist has worrying injury update, as Liverpool player misses international training

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson appears to have missed Scotland’s training this week ahead of their internationals. The player was also absent at the weekend.

Andy Robertson missed Liverpool’s win over Nottingham Forest with illness and that now appears set to rule him out further. The suggestion is that he’ll now miss Scotland vs Poland on Thursday.

Sky Sports suggested this week that it would likely be the case. Robertson’s absence from his country’s training on Wednesday now essentially confirms that- he’s still on Merseyside getting assessed.

“Well, he’s not here,” said Sky’s reporter at the training ground. “That would suggest it will be very difficult for him to make tomorrow night’s game.”

The question now becomes whether this will affect Liverpool post-international break. Robertson isn’t exactly the only missing player, after all.

Given Robertson’s problem is an illness, it’s easy to feel confident that he’ll be okay by the time Liverpool next play. There’s even half a hope that the Scot benefits from having a small break right now and not having to play an international friendly.

The next Liverpool game is on April 2nd at home to Watford – a game you’d back Kostas Tsimikas to play in, anyway. It’ll be the UEFA Champions League clash against Benfica that the team needs Robertson for and we’d be shocked if he weren’t ready for that.

And Liverpool certainly need him back. Trent Alexander-Arnold is out for the next little while and may not be back until after that fixture. Missing both key full-backs would be a huge blow at a terrible time – this is, after all, the biggest stage of the season.

Champions League games, a trip to the Etihad to define the title race and an FA Cup semi-final at the TBD Stadium all come quickly. Liverpool need their full-backs fit.
