Jamie Carragher believes a save from Alisson Becker can go down in Liverpool history after their win over Arsenal. The Reds won 2-0.
Liverpool are now just one point behind Manchester City in the title race, having caught up in games. It’s going down to the wire, it seems – though, the Reds still have to go to the Etihad.
But right now, Liverpool will feel like they can overhaul Pep Guardiola’s side and win the title. That comes after going to the Emirates Stadium and ending Arsenal’s five-game winning run – a massive result.
This felt like the most likely place for Liverpool to drop points, other than against City, and the Reds avoided it. Just.
There was a second-half moment that could have upset things here. Fortunately, Liverpool had Alisson Becker on hand to save the day.
Alisson saves Liverpool vs Arsenal
Thiago is a world-class passer and Arsenal truly experienced that tonight as he put them straight through on goal. He attempted a backpass to Alisson but couldn’t see Alexandre Lacazette behind Virgil van Dijk. His pass found the Frenchman, who setup Martin Odegaard for a golden chance.
Alisson, however, saved it. He stood up perfectly to slow things down before blocking the Norwegian’s shot. It was a definitive moment in the game and, potentially, the title race.
Jamie Carragher certainly believes so, telling Sky Sports that this could go down in Liverpool history.
“I think people, if Liverpool go on to win the title, that’ll be a save that people remember for years to come,” said Carragher. “That maybe changed the destiny of the title.

“Lose that tonight and we’re saying it’s almost done – City. That’ll live long in the memory if Liverpool go on to win the league.”
Carragher is absolutely right. Liverpool scored two goals tonight but that save was as big as any of them. It kept things level and the control with the Reds.
Thiago, of course, made up for his mistake with a fantastic assist for Diogo Jota to score the opener. But he has Alisson to thank for that being possible.
The Brazilian might have just left his mark on this title race. Game on.
