The agent of Fabian Ruiz has suggested that the player may leave Napoli this summer amidst interest from Liverpool.
Football Italia report the comments from Marco Branca, who is part of Fabian’s entourage.
“It’s very easy to judge him, I think he has an appeal all over Europe,” Branca told Radio Punto Nuovo via Football Italia.
“The club has already an idea, but we’ll face the situation at the right moment. There is time to do everything, the market is close but it’s still too early to talk. Sometimes clubs are forced to make certain decisions, sometimes it’s the player who wants to leave.”
That doesn’t sound too good for Ruiz’s future at Napoli. What makes the situation even more intriguing is that the Spaniard’s contract is due to expire in 2023, meaning that Fabian could be available for a knock-down fee.
Liverpool interested in Fabian
This could be relevant to Liverpool. Just last month, CorrieredelloSport reported that Liverpool are one of several English sides monitoring his situation.
As Liverpool are reportedly in the market for a central-midfielder this summer, a move for a player called ‘spectacular’ by his former coach Quique Setien via Goal, would make plenty of sense.
The Spaniard is a tall and elegant left-footed midfielder. Since signing for Napoli from Real Betis in 2018, he has become a key player for the Italian side.
The 25-year-old is capable of scoring from midfield having hit an impressive six goals for Napoli as they chase the league title this season. Most recently he bent in a delightful left-footed finish from outside the box to win a game against Lazio in injury time.
He plays his international football alongside Thiago Alcantara for Spain, for whom he has 15 caps. Fabian plays with a style that suggests he has garnered plenty from playing and training with the Liverpool man – the midfielder’s technique on the ball is exemplary.
Fabian tends to play in a slightly deeper for Napoli. If you think of a player that’s a cross between Fabinho and Thiago you’ll be somewhere close. If that kind of player is available this summer, then Liverpool should have throw their hat in the ring.
