Barcelona are watching the situation between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool, according to reports. The Egyptian’s future is unclear.
This comes from Mundo Deportivo. They claim that Barcelona are looking at alternatives to Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah could be one.
Above all, Barca want to sign Haaland that’s their priority this summer – but it won’t be easy. He’s one of the most in-demand players on the planet, alongside Kylian Mbappe, and competition is intense. They can’t all sign him.
Thus Barcelona need alternatives in case things don’t go their way. MD believes Salah is nearly on that shortlist.
‘Nearly’ because Barcelona need to know the entire situation at Liverpool. It’s not actually clear if or when Salah could leave the club.

Fabrizio Romano claims that talks between Liverpool and Salah broke down in December. But he also believes there’s no rush to depart Anfield – Salah could leave as a free agent in 2023.
That situation doesn’t actually benefit Barcelona, who want a big-name goalscorer this summer, not the next. But that only happens in one specific situation.
They need Liverpool to give up on Salah and decide that they’d rather cash in before he can leave for nothing. And we’re not sure that’s actually very likely.
Yes, the Reds could secure a good price for Salah but would the amount be worth it? Is selling a 30-year-old Salah with one year left on his deal going to get good value? We think it might be worth getting one more year of him at his best, even with holding onto hope that he changes his mind.
That one extra year of Salah, to us, is worth more than the potential transfer fee. It’s very possible that Liverpool see things differently – maybe they’ll cash in. But it just feels unlikely, especially after the Gini Wijnaldum case.
Regardless of anything, there’s going to be plenty of speculation around the ‘extraordinary’ Salah over the next few months.
