Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp shared what Mohamed Salah told him about his injury after leaving the pitch early vs Brighton. The Egyptian rarely goes off hurt.

It’s concerning anytime Mohamed Salah goes down injured for Liverpool. It essentially never happens – he rarely hits the deck to win a free-kick these days.

But Salah clearly had a problem against Brighton and it was enough to force the Premier League’s leading scorer off early. He did get his goal – from the penalty spot – but couldn’t offer much more beyond that after picking up a problem.

Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport after the game that Salah doesn’t think it’s serious but it’s very much wait and see.

“We will see,” said Klopp. “He thinks it’s not serious but we will see.

“When Mo Salah is sitting down, something is not 100% right. I think it was the situation before when he hit the ball and got blocked. His foot got slightly overstretched.”

Mohamed Salah goes off early for Liverpool

As Klopp says, if Salah is down, there’s a problem. It’s encouraging to hear that the Egyptian isn’t overly concerned, though, and he didn’t appear to be in too much discomfort.

But Liverpool have had terrible luck with injuries over the last year or two. Players have gone down with seemingly small things only to not appear again for the rest of the season.

Again, it doesn’t seem like that will be the case here and we wonder if Salah would have remained on the pitch with a tighter scoreline. But we’ll be waiting along with Klopp for an update.

Liverpool are fighting on three more fronts this season and Salah is an enormous part of fighting for silverware. A long-term absence would be a big hit. So we’ll cross out fingers.
